One way to come with more
creative writing ideas is to pretend you are meeting someone for the
first time and you want to tell them all about you. What do you want
them to know? Write it all down.
Go into an art gallery and
invent a story about a painting. I saw a painting of three teddy bears
and the artist and added some red paint to the foot of baby bear. To
my other artist friends I stood there and made up a story about Goldilocks
trying to kill baby bear and there was the proof/blood on his foot.
The story went on and on but you get the idea.

Go outside and pick up something
from the ground, such as discarded drink cups, broken leaves, toys,
just about anything can jumpstart your imagination. Make up a story
about that item.
Look at old family photographs
and make up a story about an individual.
Always always ask yourself,
what if, what if my character did this or said that. Make it very outrageous.
